The Zong Massacre and the Birth of the Abolitionist Movement.

In 1781, more than 130 enslaved persons were murdered by the crew of the British slave ship Zong.  Southeastern history professor Samantha Cavell investigates how this incident helped inspire the wider abolitionist movement in England and beyond in her recent lecture "The Zong Massacre and the Birth of the Abolitionist Movement."
