While the Columbia River Gorge is probably best known for the massive Columbia River, its waterfalls and lush plant life, what few know is there were several small lumber communities that once existed there. We visited two of these locations: Bridal Veil and Latourell. While the town of Bridal Veil is long gone (aside from its still functioning post office) the small community of Latourell is still in existence. While there we visited the family home of the son of the founder of the town, a home that's been abandoned for decades.
