This is a wonderful pot roast cooked in my 1974 Presto Pressure Cooker. So many people through the years have said that they were afraid of these cookers, but as long as they're used properly, they are safe. I've used mine since 1974 and my mother used one when I was growing up. Roasts cooked this way turn out tender and delicious! Make sure that vents are clear and there are no cracks in the over pressure regulator plug 2. Make sure that the gasket fits properly 3. NEVER fill your cooker more than 2/3 full! If you fill it more than this, it could block the valve and cause it to blow out the over pressure regulator plug, ultimately leading to explosion of the cooker. 4. Do not remove lid until all pressure has been released and over pressure regulator plug has returned to a resting position. It lifts up when during cooking, but will drop back down when cooker is cooled.
