Situated below the towering beauty of Cathedral Rock, one of the most photographed scenes in the southwest, this historic landmark was once a working ranch and the backdrop for several Western movies.

Over 1.5 miles of paved walking paths wind throughout the park, along the creek and past the historic buildings and waterwheel. The lush green meadows, towering trees and the gentle sounds of Oak Creek create a tranquil and serene atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying a picnic with friends or family.

In addition to the natural beauty of the area, Crescent Moon Ranch/Red Rock Crossing also has several picnic tables and shaded areas that provide comfortable seating and protection from the sun. The park also offers plenty of hiking trails and opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing, swimming and wading in the creek, making it an ideal location for a fun-filled day.

Distance: 1.5 miles of paved trails.

Tip: At the right time of day, the reflection of the rocks in the water is a sight to see. Since this site is located within the Coconino National Forest, please refrain from stacking rocks. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

Amenities: Pet-friendly (leash required).  Picnicking, swimming, fishing, photography and historic buildings. Paved walking paths are good for those with mobility challenges. Site fee required.

Driving Directions: From the Visitor Center, 331 Forest Road, turn right on SR 89A for 4.2 miles. Turn left on Upper Red Rock Loop Road for 1.5 miles; turn left on Chavez Ranch Road for 0.2 miles then right on Red Rock Crossing Road to the park entrance booth.
