Nanchang is the capital city of Jiangxi Province and one of central cities of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, a core city of Poyang Lake Ecological and Economic Zone, and a national famous historical and cultural city named by the State Council.
It owns regional area of 7402 square kilometers, with total population of 6.03 million, and it is the political, economic, cultural, technological and traffic center of the province.

First built in 202 BC, with over 2200-year history, Nanchang boasts abundant cultural inheritance and precious humanities imprints, having been featured by “abundant nature’s treasures and outstanding people” since ancient times.
Nanchang possesses a lot of cultural relics, having more than 600 ancient cultural relics; Tengwang Pavilion is reputed as “one of three famous towers in Jiangnan”, Xishan Wanshou Palace is the birthplace of filial piety of Taoist Jingming Sect, and the archaeological discovery of Haihun Marquis tomb astonishes the world.
The “August 1st Uprising” was begun here, the people’s army was born here, the thought of reform and opening-up was cultivated here, and the revolutionary gene is handed down from age to age, and all of these make Nanchang a city of heroes famous at home and abroad.

Nanchang is situated at the lower reach of such five rivers as Ganjiang River, Fuhe River, Xinjiang River, Raohe River and Xiuhe River, and the shore of Poyang Lake. It has been said since ancient times that Nanchang has advantageous water resources. With Ganjiang River passing through the city, it has developed water system with “one Ganjiang River and three other rivers connecting to ten lanes”, and the water area accounts for nearly 30%, ranking the first among the provincial capital cities in the country, and it is a veritable “Water Capital of China·Pearl of Poyang Lake”.
It is awarded National Model City of Civility, National Model City of Sanitation, National Forest City, National Garden City, and one of national first batch of Model City of Water Ecological Civilization.
