Why is β-D-glucopyranose more stable than α-form

Stable conformation of 6 membered ring is chair form. Pyranose form is converted to chair form In β-D-glucopyranose all –OH groups and even –CH2OH are at equatorial positions, hence more stable. Therefore β pyranose form of glucose is more stable and is abundantly present in nature.
