The Tsar Bomba, the World's Most Powerful Nuclear Weapon, also known as RDS-220, was a hydrogen bomb developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It was designed to be the most powerful nuclear weapon ever created, with an expected yield of around 100 megatons of TNT, which is more than 3,000 times as powerful as the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima during World War II.

The development of the Tsar Bomba began in the early 1960s, during a period of intense competition between the United States and the Soviet Union to develop more advanced and powerful nuclear weapons. The project was led by Soviet physicist Andrei Sakharov, who was also a key figure in the development of the Soviet Union's first hydrogen bomb.
The Tsar Bomba was designed to be so powerful that it could destroy an entire city with a single bomb. However, the Soviet Union never intended to use the bomb in a military conflict, as the consequences would have been catastrophic for both sides. Instead, the Tsar Bomba was seen as a demonstration of Soviet technological prowess and as a way to intimidate the United States.
The Tsar Bomba was tested on October 30, 1961, on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Tsar bomb was carried by a specially modified Tu-95 bomber aircraft and was dropped from an altitude of 10,500 meters. The bomb had a parachute attached to it that slowed its descent, giving the bomber crew time to fly a safe distance away before the bomb detonated.
When the bomb detonated, it created a fireball with a diameter of about 5 miles (8 km). The energy released by the explosion was so intense that it caused the air to glow blue, and the heat generated was estimated to be about 50 million degrees Celsius (90 million degrees Fahrenheit), which is about 4 times hotter than the core of the sun.
The explosion of the Tsar Bomba was so powerful that it caused the formation of a mushroom cloud that rose to an altitude of about 40 miles (64 km). The cloud was so large that it could be seen from a distance of over 600 miles (1,000 km) away. The shock wave created by the explosion was also incredibly powerful, and it was capable of causing damage up to a distance of about 600 miles from ground zero.
The explosion also caused a seismic shock that registered a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale.
The energy released by the Tsar Bomba was so immense that it caused a phenomenon known as "nuclear winter." The explosion created a huge amount of smoke and dust that was carried up into the Earth's atmosphere, where it blocked out the sun's rays. This caused a drop in global temperatures that lasted for several years, and it had a significant impact on the Earth's climate.
