Binqulander (1980 - )
Binqulander, born in Lahore, Pakistan, is a painter, graphic designer, calligrapher and art expert. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts with specialization in Miniature painting from the National College of Arts Lahore, in 2009, where he also earned a Diploma in Calligraphy in 2010. Binqulander is a son of Sufi sage. Binqulander father was Sufi dervish and connected to a specific tariqaat which is called Qulandri Silsla.
Calligraphic art in Pakistan is one of the major art forms of Fine Arts. It is a popular art form, because of its religious importance and secular appeal. Calligraphic art is based upon Quranic Verses written in the beautiful script. By choosing abstract primary subjects such as words, thought and ayat(Quranic verses),strong colours and emphasizes design, which combines geometry with bold swirls of shapes, Binqulander’s works articulate a metaphysical tradition.Binqulander uses With a miniaturist’s attention to detail, he builds his work in layers using acrylic, silver leaf and mix medium Binqulander’s practice has extended far beyond the traditional approach and patterns of calligraphy’s that had helped an abstract style. Continuity and connectivity creates a balance and rhythmic atmosphere. His work is a transformation of traditional form into contemporary context.
