Last week, we published a video looking at 3 military sidearms issued by the Austrian half of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during World War I. Now in this companion video, we look at two firearms used by Hungary after independence and through World War II.

First we have the 19M, designed by Rudolf Frommer. It was his first truely successful model, but he had been working with firearms since the late 19th century. This pistol was originally known as the Model 1912 (M12 or 12M) or "Frommer Stop" and actually was adopted by Hungary before WWI. After independence, it was readopted as the 19M and would remain in service for another two decades.

Next we have Frommer's final design before his death in 1936, the 37M or 'Femaru' pistol. It was standard issue during WWII and for a short time into the communist era. Also, it was adopted by the Nazi-German Luftwaffe as the P.37(u), where it was respected.
