**Apparently the author of this article about Coptic's continued existence ~8:40 has been caught before just making up sources and stuff. So here's an article on that:

From what I can gather beyond the source, mostly the classes also mentioned and offhand things I've heard from people who have connection to Coptic communities, it's still likely that there are people speaking it or keeping it alive, but it's, again very small as a subset of the broader Coptic community.
I welcome anything people can find that discusses the matter further.
