Abandoned Shell Airstrip: Senate Wants Oloibiri Airfield In Bayelsa Upgraded To Air Force Base

The Nigerian Senate has urged the Ministry of Aviation and the Nigeria Air Force to take over and convert the abandoned Shell Airstrip at Oloibiri oil well (one) to a modern Air Force Base in Bayelsa state.

The resolution followed a motion brought to the floor by Senator representing Bayelsa East, Senator Benson Agadaga during Thursday’s plenary

Lawmakers who contributed to the debate lamented the deplorable state of the facility following the decline of oil exploration activities in the area.
