Hello Everyone!

Thank you for watching Day 3 of our trip to Duhok, Iraq (KRI). I am so excited to share my trip with you and show you the beauty that is the Middle East.  I hope you enjoy these videos, and they can be a step in ending the stereotype that Iraq is a dangerous place. I pray that Assyria continues to live on through us and we shall never forget our roots. Don't forget to like and subscribe to my channel to watch future trips!

AKITU: Akitu is the Assyrian festival and celebration that marks the first day of the Assyrian New Year! Traditionally celebrated as a 12 day celebration, with each day doing something different. This year marks 6774!

History: Assyrians are the indigenous people of modern day countries of Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria; as Assyria once existed amongst these borders. Going to Iraq, the homeland of our ancestors, is a big deal, especially for those of us in the diaspora, as we are able to see where our lineage comes from.
