How to make catfish jugs with noodles & wooden planks. I prefer adding the wooden plank to my noodle jugs because it's like adding a parachute. The fish cannot pull them under.
Free floating catfish jugs are my favorite. I rarely catch anything while anchored down. Free floating jugs cover more water. When jug fishing remember it's like each jug in a boat by itself. You have haul them in much easier than rod and reel.
Jug fishing for big catfish is not only a possibility, you can end up wit ha state record. The record Blue catfish in my home waters was caught on jugs. It was a 120 lbs blue fish.
Jug fishing for blue catfish works well, but focus more on using cut bait than livers or other kinds of meat. Blues prefer bait fish.

My jug fishing setup boils down to this a paternoster rig with two hook. The main line is 50 lb monofilament. I use dropper loop off the main line. That's it. Keep you jug lines simple. I think many people have taken their trot lines and ported them over to jug line, and it isn't necessary.
Jug fishing tips: Cover a wide area. The more jugs the better. 30 jugs catches the most fish for me, but it's hard to keep up with that many jug. I've cut the number of jugs down, but added two hook per line as opposed to one hook per line the way I used to.
Jug fishing with noodle is cheap, and fun, but adding a 2x10 plank of lumber will keep those big ones from swimming clear down to China with them. They do take up more space in the boat, but catching the fish is the goal, not looking cool.
