Inside ADT's 3G Conversion Project

It was a challenge unlike one ever faced in ADT’s nearly 150-year history. In 2019, major wireless carriers announced they would shut down their 3G networks by the end of 2022 to build out 5G coverage. This impacted the majority of ADT’s customers – about 3.6 million of them – who relied on equipment that used 3G networks to communicate with our monitoring centers. It was a labor intensive, time sensitive task.
So how did we do it? We’re sharing with you the lessons we learned and the extraordinary effort it took for a successful completion, as a case study in change management and overcoming the unexpected.
