Komodo Park's Sabolo Island

Technically, Sabolo Island lies just outside the boundaries of Indonesia's Komodo National Park. (I also see it spelled Sebolon.) It hosts a nice little resort, a particularly beautiful, though small, house reef, and a hike to the top of a scenic overlook. The hike looks deceptively simple -- what we didn't know when we began was that the tall grasses hide some treacherous footing underneath. And there was no real trail to speak of. And the hill was a bit steeper in places than it looked from below. It all made for slow going, and a quick trip back down to make it to the beach before sunset left us in the dark. But the way down was much better -- we discovered a much more manageable trail (trailhead near the boat doc rather than on the east-north side of the beach). And yes, the views up top lived up to the billing for a Flowers adventure. Thanks, Komodo, for another great memory in the wilderness.
