This video is the 5th in my Starlink in-motion series.

We get very close to a final setup, and I have a new twist... with the amazing skills of Oleg Kutkov, I will convert my Starlink dishy phased array to use 12 volts directly, eliminating the need for POE injection. Check out his blog here: https://olegkutkov.me.

In this video, I cover topics including:
- How to bypass POE and rewire Starlink to use 12v directly
- Bypassing POE will reduce the idle current draw to about 7W, making it very efficient for mobile use.
- Noting that a Tesla cigarette lighter outputs over 15v—do not feed Tesla's "12v" directly to a Dishy converted to bypass POE!
- My not-so-great soldering skills :(
- Plasti-Dipping your Starlink board to a stylish black color
- The trials and tribulations of figuring out how to mount the dish in the sunroof of our Tesla Model Y
- Wiring up Starlink cable to use a standard T568B Ethernet jack—no need to swap any pairs
- Using an Eero 6 router in your car—a great option because it can connect directly to the car's USB-C jack and is very compact.
- The resilience of a Starlink dishy board—it can take a beating and keep on keeping on.

=============

We have started a 25,000 km+ "8" lap of Australia in our Tesla electric car. The planned route is Canberra - Port Augusta - Darwin - Broome - Perth - Port Augusta - Alice Springs - Mount Isa - Townsville - Sydney - Melbourne - Hobart.

At the time of posting this video, we are in Horrocks Beach, WA, about 500km north of Perth.
