Today we are going to
Today we are going to Upgrade from Oracle APEX 20.1 to Oracle APEX 22.1 with Database 21c [Pluggable] in Windows 10 InshaAllah.

a. Stop running previous version (Oracle APEX 20.1)
b. Create folder with name "20.1_22.1" in "C:\" drive.
c. Download Oracle APEX 22.1 from this link
www.oracle.com/tools/downloads/apex-downloads.html
d. Unzip "V1020798-01" in a folder (C:\20.1_22.1), so we do not need to copy & paste it (apex folder)
Java version is Java 8 update 211 (java -version)
e. Open command prompt & reach where apex folder is available. (C:\20.1_22.1)
f. Run sqlplus /nolog
g. Connect with sys / as sysdba
h. Run this command
show pdbs; (this command will run before every apex scripts @apexins, @apxchpwd.sql, @apex_rest_config.sql to make sure that
we connect with pluggable database or not, if we connect it then run apex scripts, if not then run below command)
ALTER SESSION SET CONTAINER = ORCLPDB;
(Make sure "Session altered" appear if not then connect again as sys / as sysdba)
i. CREATE TABLESPACE APEX221 DATAFILE 'APEX221.DBF' SIZE 100M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1M;
here (APEX221) is tablespace name which you can define from your choice
j. Check previous version by running this command
SELECT username, account_status
FROM dba_users
WHERE username LIKE 'APEX%';
k. Install apex by running this command
@apexins APEX221 APEX221 temp /i/ (here we use tablespace "APEX221" instead of "sysaux" because we create separate tablespace for new version)
l. Exit command prompt
m. Come to this folder "C:\21c_20.1\ords" and delete "images" folder.
n. Go to (new version of) apex folder "C:\20.1_22.1\apex" copy "images" folder & paste it to "C:\21c_20.1\ords"
o. Open cmd with administrator rights, reach where ORDS folder is available (C:\21c_20.1\ords) & run this command "java -jar ords.war",
when "Oracle REST Data Services initialized" appear use Oracle APEX, minimize command prompt do not close it.
