কিংবদন্তী সংগীতশিল্পী এন্ড্রু কিশোর। এক কথায় তিনি সংগীতের এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র। তাকে প্লেব্যাক সম্রাটও বলা হয়ে থাকে। সিনেমার গানে তার কণ্ঠ আজো মানুষের মন ছুঁয়ে যায়। বহু কালজয়ী গান তিনি রেখে গেছেন তার শ্রোতা-ভক্তদের জন্য। ১৯৫৫ সালের ৪ নভেম্বর রাজশাহীতে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন তিনি। সেখানেই কেটেছে তার দুরন্ত শৈশব ও কৈশোর।
এন্ড্রু কিশোর সিনেমার প্লেব্যাক শুরু করেন ১৯৭৭ সালে আলম খানের সুরে ‘মেইল ট্রেন’ ছবিতে ‘অচিনপুরের রাজকুমারী নেই যে তার কেউ’ নামের গান দিয়ে। প্রায় চার দশক সিনেমার গান গেয়েছেন তিনি। স্বীকৃতিস্বরুপ পেয়েছেন আটবার জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার।
২০২০ সালের ৬ই জুলাই ক্যান্সারে আক্রান্ত হয়ে মারা যান বাংলাগানের ভুবনে অনবদ্য অবদান রাখা এই শিল্পী। তাঁর উদাত্ত কন্ঠের জাদুতে বাজার মাত করেছে অনেক ফ্লপ সিনেমার গান।
পৃথিবী থেকে বিদায় নিলেও হয়ত আরো বহুযুগ বাংলার শহর, বন্দর হাট মাঠ প্রান্তরে ছড়িয়ে থাকবে এই কিংবদন্তী শিল্পীর কন্ঠস্বর।

বাংলা সংগীতের এক উজ্জল নক্ষত্রের নাম রোমানা মোর্শেদ কনক চাঁপা। অসংখ্য গান গেয়ে মানুষের মন জয় করে আছেন তিনি। অসংখ্য জনপ্রিয় গান উপহার দিয়ে তিনি বাংলা গানের ভাণ্ডারকে সমৃদ্ধ করেছেন। চলচ্চিত্র, আধুনিক গান, নজরুল সঙ্গীত, লোকগীতি সহ প্রায় সবধরনের গানে কনক চাঁপা সমান পারদর্শী। তিনি ৩২ বছর ধরে সংগীতাঙ্গনে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। এ পর্যন্ত চলচ্চিত্রের তিন হাজারেরও বেশি গানে কণ্ঠ দিয়েছেন কনক চাঁপা। প্রকাশিত হয়েছে ৩৫টি একক গানের অ্যালবাম। কনকচাঁপা বিখ্যাত কন্ঠশীল্পি বশীর আহমেদের ছাত্রী। দীর্ঘদিন তাঁর কাছে উচ্চাঙ্গ, নজরুল সঙ্গীতসহ অন্যান্য ভারতীয় সঙ্গীতের তালিম নিয়েছেন।
তার জনপ্রিয় গানের মধ্যে রয়েছে, অনেক সাধনার পরে আমি পেলাম তোমার মন, তোমাকে চাই শুধু তোমাকে চাই, ভাল আছি ভাল থেকো, যে প্রেম স্বর্গ থেকে এসে জীবনে অমর হয়ে রয় (খালিদ হাসান মিলুর সাথে), আমার নাকেরই ফুল বলে রে তুমি যে আমার, তোমায় দেখলে মনে হয়, আকাশ ছুঁয়েছে মাটিকে, অনন্ত প্রেম তুমি দাও আমাকে, তুমি আমার এমনই একজনসহ অনেক গান।গানের জন্য রুমানা মোর্শেদ কনক চাঁপা ৩ বার জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন। এছাড়া তিনি বাচসাস চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার, দর্শক ফোরাম পুরস্কার, প্রযোজক সমিতি পুরস্কারসহ আরও অসংখ্য পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন।
গানের পাশাপাশি লেখক হিসেবেও কনকচাঁপার সুখ্যাতি রয়েছে। ২০১০ সালের অমর একুশে বইমেলায় ‘স্থবির যাযাবর’, ২০১২ সালের অমর একুশে বইমেলায় ‘মুখোমুখি যোদ্ধা’ ও ২০১৬ সালের অমর একুশে বইমেলায় ‘মেঘের ডানায় চড়ে’ নামে তিনটি বই প্রকাশিত হয়েছে কনক চাঁপার।
