Hello everyone!
I am back with another travel vlog, one that means so much to me.
On September 29th my family along with some very close family friends traveled on the Kivu lake for a day trip from Goma to Idjwi.
Idjwi is a Congolese island in the Kivu (East Congo) and it is also the village where my dad was born and raised. My father is from the HAVU tribe and they speak KIHAVU and KISWAHILI too.
The last time I visited the island was in 2009.
The reason why this vlog is important to me is because not only it is the first time I was going back to my roots while being mature and more aware of certain things, but I also took my two first friends I made when I arrived in Belgium and their parents with me.
This island is very close to my heart simply because my roots and the majority of my bloodline are there.
I will let you enjoy a bit of the beauty of Idjwi and its people, MY people.
