Yes, prostate cancer when it is present in the early stage, it is curable. If they are not present in the early stage, there are chances that it may not be a curable stage, because in the West and the US, they are identified very early and they are detected in the early stage. They are curable in mostly 95% if the situations in the US today, they are curable diseases. Whereas in our country, nearly 40 to 50% of the disease comes with the metastatic disease, with a spread out disease and this is a real problem, which we are facing in our outpatient clinics. So the curability depends upon how patients come early. It is better if one has urinary symptoms of more than 50 years, then better it get it evaluated yearly examination of prostate specific antigens or if a person suffering from any diseases and his son has to undergo the examination at the age of 45 to 50 years. So in general, if there is a family history of prostate cancer, one needs to do the PSA screening after 50 years or sometimes after 45 years if two generations suffer from prostate cancer. This is how the early prostate cancer can be diagnosed and if they are diagnosed early, they can be treated by radiation therapy or by surgical modality. Yes, it is curable.
