New I40 Eastbound Flyover - Memphis

The new I-40 eastbound flyover is set to open soon. Due to constraints of constructing the Wolf River bridge in phase two, one of the two new lanes on the flyover will remain closed during bridge construction. The opening of this flyover moves the I40/I240 project closer to completion of the first phase.   Soon to follow this flyover opening, the new I-40 westbound flyover will be completed and open to traffic. Once both flyovers are open and functional, phase one will be complete and the replacement of the Wolf River Bridge will begin. During the bridge work, traffic will be shifted to allow sections of the bridge to be replaced. Motorists will have at least three lanes open in each direction during this phase of work. Once complete, the 1,145 ft. structure will carry six lanes of traffic westbound and seven lanes eastbound.
