The advanced AWD system with Instant Traction™ has an electronic management system that constantly monitors the speed of the wheels, the throttle, engine torque, engine speed and the brakes. As driving conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power. When a tire loses traction, power is reduced to that wheel and instantly transferred to the more sure-footed wheels.
Take advantage of energy. Every time you release the accelerator or brake while a gear is engaged, the braking energy that otherwise would be wasted is fed back to the battery. This reduces the average load of the alternator and results in 2–3% lower fuel consumption and in turn, lower CO2 emissions.
To adapt the engine characteristics to your preferences or driving conditions, you can add a function that allows you to choose between different drive modes for the engine, transmission and the optional air-suspension – Comfort, Eco, Dynamic, Off road and Individual mode.
Instead of traditional springs, this technology is based on separate air chambers for each wheel. Controlled by a computerized compressor, each air chamber constantly adapts to the driving conditions. Together with our Four-C electronically-controlled damping system, this gives you unique opportunities to control and adapt the suspension according to your driving desires.
