Capablanca was the greatest endgame player in history. There is no doubt about that. Considering how early in the development of chess endgame theory he played his extraordinary games, his skill is simply incomparable with that of contemporary players.

Jose Raúl Capablanca's endgames are what he is most known for. He was the Tal of endgames. The greatest technician of the first half of the 20th century by far. He was extremely precise and his understanding was extraordinary.

I have chosen four of his greatest endgames and tried not to spoil their beauty too much with my analysis.

The games I have covered are:

Emanuel Lasker - Jose Raul Capablanca, 1921 World Championship
Henry Atkins - Jose Raul Capablanca, London 1922
Jose Raul Capablanca - Savielly Tartakower, New York 1924
Aron Nimzowitsch - Jose Raul Capablanca, New York 1927
