This song is probably one of my favorite in all of Super Mario 64's OST. Koji Kondo is a legend.
I wanted to go with an 80's Japanese Jazz Fusion style here since it's the vibe I've been hearing when I've thought of realizing this to be played with a band. I've been listening to a lot of Casiopea and T-Square a lot recently and I've been wanting to arrange a VGM in their style.
The bVI e-piano intro was inspired by T-Square's "Twilight in the Upper West", with the arrangement starting with a lush e-piano intro then the band builds from there.
I did some subtle reharm for this one. Not much to explain except for that modulation from G major to E major. I've always wanted to try that modulation downwards but still making it sound like it modulated upwards.
