Alkali-Silica Testing, Alkali-Silica Reactivity - Federal Highway Administration 1994 - Video VH-277 - Alkali-silica reactivity, a major cause of deterioration in concrete, is explained in the introduction to this video. Determination of reactivity damage through use of a handbook, and prevention through use of low-alkali cements and aggregates and pozzolanic materials are discussed. New tests are explained in detail: a gel recognition test for use by field personnel, and a laboratory procedure, ASTM P 214.
