So when it comes to Norse Mythology, everyone always talks about Thor and Loki, throw Odin and Tyr in there for good measure, and maybe some Heimdall and you'd think that's all there is. Thing is though... Norse Mythology legit has two of the coolest goddesses in all of mythology — I'm looking at you Freyja and Hel. Rest assured, I'll be covering Hel in great detail another time, but today, it's time for the goddess of sex, beauty, lust, love and war to shine: Freyja. You might not know her — but you're about to. From her connections to the valkyries, to her many lovers, to her being the reason the Aesir gods enjoy peace with the Vanir.... there is a lot to talk about in this episode.

Episode 5 Of Keeping Up With The Norse Gods — Lust, Love, War: Freyja

Notes:
More than Greek mythology, Norse mythology is mess: It's disjointed, disconnected, full of contradictions and different versions... you really have to piece a puzzle together when telling any story. I mean, people can't even agree on whether Freyja and Frigg are the same goddess... so, of course, I have to take my personal brush to this and touch up bits and pieces to tell this story my way, by sifting through all the different variations that have come to be over thousands of years of these stories being retold over and over. For the sake of this video — and all my videos — I try to streamline all of these tales and versions as much as possible and occasionally I might leave out some details that might make the videos less fun (though, to be honest, I think in this one I really didn't leave out any details).
So...  is this accurate and well researched? Absolutely. Is this the only interpretation or way of telling you about Freyja? No, but it's the way I like it the most.

Get All My Artwork & Support The Channel:
I get a lot of questions about my artwork and where it’s from or rather who draws it. Well the answer is that I create it — I don’t draw it. I use AI to create the artwork, using specific prompts, specific style influences from 18th and 19th century artists, and I spend about 6 hours per video just on the artwork. Each video has roughly double the artwork of what you actually see in the video, so a lot of it is unused. The good news here though is that you can get all that artwork on my Patreon — the artwork I do use, and the artwork I don’t use. Plus, by subscribing to my Patreon you are making a major contribution to Briefed and helping me to keep this channel going, because this is my full time job and the survival of the channel and quality of the videos greatly depends on said support. In return for supporting, you get more than the artwork though — you also get exclusive videos and producer credit, as well as access to a producer group that gets to vote on thumbnails, gets behind the scenes etc.
If you choose to become a Patron — thank you. I do not take it for granted.

Sources:
A lot of people ask me about my sources, and… to be honest, they are a mixed bag. One major source is my lifelong interest in storytelling and mythology. Another  is the beautiful endless library that is the internet, and, third, I read the occasional book from time to time, which I’m happy to recommend to you, but also… I’m planning to write my own books on mythology, so, in due time it will be…:
Source? Me. Yay.
