In this episode, we will be recovering data from a dead Kingston NV1 SSD sent to us from the United States. Upon close inspection, we see that it uses a Silicon Motion controller, part number SM2263XT. This controller is supported by the PC-3000 SSD Complex, which we will use to regenerate the translation and access the data in today's video. With the help of the PC-3000, we will gain access to the drive and create a logical image using Data Extractor. We will also demonstrate how to manipulate the partition table in cases where partitions are lost. To our surprise, a quick disk analysis did not locate the missing partition, so we had to run a raw recovery to locate metadata blocks belonging to the missing partition, which turned out to be encrypted by BitLocker.
