The spokesperson for the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon, Andrea Tenenti, has revealed the situation on the Israel-Lebanon border is “very tense.”

“I would say for the last five weeks we have entered the second mount of this conflict, the situation is still very tense, we see and we witness every day large numbers of exchanges of fire along the blue line between Lebanon and Israel … there is no border between the two countries,” he told Sky News Australia.

“There has not been dialogue or peace between the two countries for a very long time, but what we see, despite the exchanges of fire, the situation has been very much localised along the blue line.”

Israel and Lebanon don't have an agreed border, but the United Nations patrols the boundary between the countries, known as the Blue Line.

Tensions between Israel and the Islamist militant group Hezbollah are at their highest level in years, ever since Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel.

Both Israel and Lebanon believe the other is interfering with their territory.
