1) I hem T-shirts in a special way and make a belt in a new way
How to process the bottom and sleeves of a T-shirt without an opener?
On the wrong side I make a mark 4 cm from the edge and turn the fabric over onto the face.
I bend this folded part again in the middle, cut side to fold, and pin it together.
I make a seam at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge, grabbing all the layers. Then I overcast it or you can immediately stitch it on an overlocker.
I fold the seam allowance up and iron it, then make a delay on top, grabbing the seam allowance to secure it.
- Elastic cuffs for sleeves are usually folded along their length, stitched and then folded in half. There is another way to do this.
- We bend the elastic along the length, as in the first case, then make another bend across and make a stitch.
Here all 4 layers are stitched together and the seam is fixed.
- A beautiful way to sew a wide elastic band onto the waistband, sleeves or bottom of any blouse.
Distribute the elastic evenly and attach it to the wrong side.
Then we make a fold and pin it, it is better to secure the edges of the elastic with a stitch.
At the beginning of the line, mark the angle at which the zigzag begins, then continue it to the end.
In this case, each time we unfold the fabric in the opposite direction. We focus on the foot, each line is parallel to it.
The result is a soft zigzag assembly.
- How to make a hole in a belt if there are no eyelets?
Take a strip for the belt, 10–11 cm wide, and cut out a small piece in the front middle, 5 to 10 cm wide.
We fold it, mark the line along which the belt will be sewn. In the middle on both edges we mark a hole that is slightly wider than the lace.
We connect this part with the belt and sew everything except the hole.
Next, sew on the belt as usual.

2) How to do without an overlocker. 5 clever ways to create durable and beautiful seams.
I propose to consider 5 types of seams:
We connect two pieces of fabric with the wrong sides facing inward and sew a line from the front side at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge.
- Then we unfold the sewn fabric, bend it along the seam in the opposite direction and again sew a line from the wrong side so that the edge is inside the seam.
- This is called a double seam.
We fold two pieces of fabric with the right sides facing inward and sew a line at a distance of 1.5–2 cm from the edge.
- Then we unfold the fabric and smooth it in different directions.
- We turn each edge inward and lay stitches at a distance of 1 mm from the edge.
We connect the fabrics with the right sides facing inward so that one fabric is located 1.5–2 cm lower than the second.
- We turn the longer edge into a short one, bend it and sew a line
We connect the two parts and sew a stitch at a distance of 1–1.5 cm from the edge.
- We process both edges at once with bias tape. You can process the edges separately in the same way.
This method is suitable when you need to hide the edge of a seam, when you need to sew a ruffle to the fabric. To do this, first fold the strip for the ruffle and sew it on one side. On the other side we lay two lines and collect them into folds.
- We connect the ruffle and the fabric with the right sides facing inward. In this case, the fabric protrudes by 1.5–2 cm.
- Fold the edge of the fabric to gather and stitch. Then we turn the seam towards the fabric and lay another line along the edge.

3) I have collected useful tricks and tips that will make the sewing process easier.
- To evenly hem the bottom of the product, you can make a template from cardboard, draw straight lines every 1 cm. The fabric is folded over the cardboard, ironed first by 1 cm, and then another fold by 2 cm.
- Another template, a 3 cm strip of cardboard. The fabric is ironed to this width and then folded in half.
- Air loop. Bring the thread to the front side. Make a loop, insert two fingers of your left hand through it and grab the thread through it with the fingers of your right hand, pull the loop to the left, pull the thread to the right, the result is a braided braid. This will be the air loop.
- To make the pocket perfectly even, you need to make a template from cardboard of the required size. Smooth seam allowances from the wrong side.
- When sewing a collar or flap, you need to turn out the corner. To do this, when the stitch reaches the corner, take the thread, lay it between the layers of fabric and thread it to the needle. We make one stitch, the thread is stitched inside. Turn the bent thread inside the collar and continue stitching. The allowances are adjusted and the product is turned inside out. Now you need to pull both ends of the thread and the perfect corner is ready. The thread is pulled out.
- Turn out the belt. Sew 7-8 cm, cut the thread, pull the stitched part inward so that you can grab the edge. Return to the machine and continue stitching, pulling the end of the belt towards you.
- Bias tape. Cut a square of fabric 36x36 cm, cut it diagonally. Sew it this wa
