Fort Knox in Kentucky, south of Louisville, is a 109,000 acre base, spanning Bullitt, Hardin, and Meade counties. Renowned for housing a significant portion of the U.S. gold reserves, it's often linked with the United States Bullion Depository. Named after Henry Knox, a key figure in the Revolutionary War, it's home to the Army Human Resources Center of Excellence and honors General George S. Patton's legacy. While historically hosting the Armor Center and School, it shifted to Fort Moore in 2011. Fort Knox gained significance with the relocation of the U.S. Army Cadet Command in 2014 and the reactivation of V Corps in 2020.
