*Perfect Pelt Guide*
Get a clean head shot on a three star American Muskrat with a Varmint Rifle.
*Trapper Outfit Information*
A perfect American Muskrat pelt aids the crafting of the following items:
Combined with a Legendary Pronghorn pelt you can craft the Legendary Pronghorn Range Gloves in the Huntsman outfit.
Combined with four perfect rabbit pelts you can craft the Muskrat Cavalry Hat in the Marauder outfit.
Combined with a perfect rabbit pelt you can craft the Winter Cavalry Gloves in the Desperado outfit.
Combined with a perfect beaver pelt you can craft the Grenadier Hat in the Mountain Man outfit.
This video covers the two most reliable spawn locations (in my experience) for Muskrats in RDR2 story mode. They can be found at any time during the day but are more common at night.
If you have trouble getting an American Muskrat to spawn, I suggest setting up a camp a few clicks away from the spawn location and sleeping until the following day before riding back and trying again. If you hit bad RNG you may have to do this up to 5-10 times to get it to work for your desired purposes. Reloading your save and/or game can also be used to try and reset the animals in game.
Be sure to explore a small radius of the surrounding area thoroughly before resetting and trying again as it's exact location varies depending on conditions.
Also, be sure to clear out any legendary animals or random encounters in the area as they can mess with the spawns as well.
