We start the video with a quick comparison between the older APEX (AX952) and the newer APEX (AZ1002). We highlight the new Zero-M Technology, what it is, and what it does. We remove the top of each cleaner head and show the brushrolls in the two machines so you can see the difference in the setup.
We show all the items that you get when you buy your Shark APEX AZ1002, and we walk through the 3 tools provided. We also describe the unit's DuoClean Technology and the 3 reasons why we like it: its ability to pick up large debris, its ability to buff smooth surfaces, and its ability to clean right up to the front of the cleaner head.
We show the vacuum cleaning a debris field on carpet. The debris field consists of ground cheerios, flax seeds, chili flakes, full size fruit loops, short white pet hair, and long black human hair. We do this for both the new APEX and the older APEX and compare the brushrolls to see if the hair trangling is indeed less on the unit with Zero-M Technology.
We show a similar debris field on tile and we run the machine (AZ1002) on Hard Floor mode to see what the pickup is like.
The AZ1002 has 3 filters: 2 pre-motor and 1 post-motor. We show all the filters, how to access them and how/when to clean them. The post-motor filter is a HEPA filter. We also discuss the fact that this vacuum has a sealed system. This ensures only properly filtered air is exhausted from the vacuum.
We show how well the swivel steering works. We move the vacuum back and forth and show that the cleaner head moves very easily with a twist of the wrist.
The unit includes a motorized pet tool with a brushroll. We use this tool on ground-in hair in a medium pile carpet to see what kind of job it does. In addition, we show how easy it is to clean the hair out of this tool - the brushroll pops out and pops back in very easily.
The AZ1002 is a very versatile machine. It works well on carpet and bare flooring. It also has a hose. wand and tools. However, one thing that makes the vacuum a little unique is the Lift Away feature which allows you to carry the dust-canister/motor assembly in one hand while using the hose/wand/tools with the other hand. The vacuum also all snaps back together into upright mode easily and quickly.
The vacuum includes 2 lifetime headlights on the vacuum nozzle and there is also a handy spotlight on the vacuum handle. The spotlight on the handle is designed to illuminate the cleaning area when you are using a tool on the end of the handle.
We show how well the vacuum moves on 1 inch shag carpet. Consider that the vacuum has two brushrolls. We show movement on the shag carpet as well as debris pickup on the carpet.
Finally, we like that the Shark APEX Zero-M AZ1002 comes with a 30 foot power cord which provides a good cleaning reach.
