MYANMAR: Lotus Silk Weaving

The Lotus silk weaving  in Paw Khon Village in Inle Lake is worth to visit and one of the beautiful places that I have ever been to Myanmar .
Lotus Silk Weaving has been their practice for over centuries.  This place is one of the few places that manual  Lotus weaving still being practiced. It takes up to 2 months to  produce a kilogram of fibre and this is the reason why it is expensive.
There is no enough lotus plants in Inle Lake because of the demand from tourists so other places in Myanmar are encourage to plant to supply lotus silk to this community .
It is expensive fiber because of it's nature and time consuming method in producing a fine thread . Because of  this,  it is often mixed with other fibers such as cotton or silk.
