In the Semifinal Nadal vs Zverev the Spaniard was in the lead before going into a second tie break when Alexander Zverev injured his foot and couldn't continue. This promoted Rafael Nadal to his 14th final at the French Open. As he took the Roland Garros 2022 title he. remains undefeated in Finals there and upped his win loss match record to 112 - 3. An outstanding achievement and a record of most macttch wins at any single Men's Tennis tournament. Roger Federer won 105 matches at Wimbledon but 'only' won 8 titles there. At Roland Garros Federer won the title in 2009 against Robin Soderling to complete his Career Grand Slam just like Andre Agassi did in 1999. On that day Federer equalled Pete Sampras for 14 Grand Slam titles. The most in history at that time. Now Rafael Nadal holds the record for most Grand Slam titles at 22, while Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both have 20.

The tournoi de Roland Garros also known as the French Open is one of the 4 Grand Slams of the Tennis season. it is traditionally played on Clay courts and ends the European clay court season before the ATP Tour switches to grass and goes to Wimbledon. The history of the French Open dates back to the 1800s but in 1968 it was the first ever Grand Slam of the Open Era.
The first two editions featured two historical greats battling each other in the final and taking one title each: Ken Rosewall and Rod Laver. Laver completed a calendar year Grand Slam in 1968 by winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open all in the same year.
In the 70s the Swede Bjorn Borg dominated Roland Garros by winning it a record 6 times. Along with his 5 titles at Wimbledon this seemed like an almost unbreakable record.
in 1980s Mats Wilander and Ivan Lendl both won the French Open multiple times, denying the likes of John McEnroe a title.
In 1999 Andre Agassi won the French Open and completed a Career Grand Slam as the first man since Rod Laver in the Open Era. In the early 2000s Guga Kuerten was the man to beat at Roland Garros.
Then in 2005 came Rafael Nadal.
