Our Sherco 300SE Factory first impressions! And the 250SE Factory too as there was a good deal for two motorbikes. Jeff got the Sherco 250 SE Factory edition. We would have been happy with the cheaper base models but there none available due to the covid inspired buying frenzy. I bought the bigger brother, so wait for our 2022 Sherco 300SE Factory review. Let the French stereotypes begin! The good news? We did not make a mistake! Despite various known issues with their engines, the Beta two strokes have had a brilliant power delivery for years. We had quite a few test rides so were were fairly sure we would love the baguette bashers. We were both grinning madly on this first ride. We plan to do a full review of the Sherco factory models soon. But this video just covers our first impressions, later we'll have a 2022 Sherco 250SE Factory review. Into enduro riding? Our dirt riding tips also include wider topics such as the best dirt riding boots. We were worried the Sherco 250 and 300 might not measure up. Thankfully, the bottom end power is excellent, and possibly even stronger. I eventually just put the 300 on the 'soft' map to take away the hit of power at low revs. The harder you push it, the better it works. Hitting rock ledges or landing from jumps was like landing on marshmellows. It feels a bit firm in slow terrain, but we have been told the KYB suspension loosens up after a few rides so we will keep you updated.  Jeff was worried the 250 might be a bit weak at low revs, but we suspect the electronic power valve has taken care of any problems there, as confirmed in other 2022 Sherco 250SE Factory reviews.  The KYB suspension works well in the 2022 Sherco 300SE Factory. They turn quickly but still feel stable at speed. Most two strokes are like this nowadays. Gone are the days of the twitchy two stroke motorbike when riding fast... unless it's a Beta Xtrainer.  Overall impressions of the Sherco 300SE Factory? Jeff cannot stop raving about the 250. He has fallen head over heels in love.  We expected it to be firm though... this is the model intended for racing. If possible, we will try to ride the base model Sherco and see how different the suspension is.  Ergonomics for the 2022 Sherco 250SE Factory? Many Sherco riders told us the handlebars are a bit low for most riders. Jeff and I are both tall so we put bar risers on immediately. I am freakishly tall so I will probably add Fastway footpegs mounted in the low position. I do this with most of my motorbikes.  Handling? Excellent. What I found interesting is that Scott also rode both Sherco models and he instantly fell in love with the 250. Me? I'm very impressed too. But with my freakish height, I just need to get the ergonomics right before I am a 100% happy chappy. I also want a lighter clutch. The clutch pull is a bit hard compared to the competitors. I will probably fit a Midwest clutch lever which will fix this easily. Surprisingly the Sherco 250SER has a lighter clutch.  In fact, he got off the Sherco and said "I could see myself buying one of these". And Scott never says that. I checked a week later and he is still thinking of selling his KTM 200EXC and going French.  Perhaps the 250 gets different clutch springs? So lets look at the negatives with the Sherco 250SE Factory. It doesn't worry me at all, but it's strange that the plastics aren't always uniform. And finally, there's no kickstart... which is happening on most enduro motorbikes nowadays. We aren't very worried about this. The dealer showed us how quickly you can pop the seat off and just hook up some jumper leads between the two motorbikes. But I know this lack of a kickstart is a sore point for many so it's worth mentioning.  We already mentioned the stock handlebars can be a bit low for even riders of average height.  Sherco 300 SE reviews and owners told us the fuel tap is in an awkward spot. Wow! They weren't wrong. You have to get off the motorbike and reach in to turn the fuel tap. I'm surprised Sherco hasn't addressed this yet.  Sherco owners also warned me that the plastics sometimes don't line up exactly. Again they were right. Jeff's plastics are perfect. Mine have a one centimetre gap betwween the radiator shrouds and side panels.
