Universal shelled out $400 million for the “Exorcist” brand, including a planned trilogy of films and theme park attractions, among other synergy-driven plans. And to make sure it has enough modern day "representation", The Exorcist: Believer has a scene where Chris MacNeil blames the “damn patriarchy” for being barred from witnessing her daughter’s exorcism in the series’ original film. Even though that is NOT how it went down in the original classic.
