In this episode I provide the history of Isuzu, who once imported cars, trucks, and SUV's from Japan to the U.S. and Canada, starting in 1972. Isuzu is well known for their ad campaign in the late 80's, starring actor David Leisure as Joe Isuzu, who soon became more popular than the cars. General Motors owned a share of Isuzu back then and increased their share to almost 50% in 1998, but transitioned their focus more on Isuzu's commercial truck, bus, and diesel engine business, and only providing two rebadged GM cars for Isuzu to sell in America in their last few years, leading to Isuzu's car and passenger truck business leaving the U.S. by 2009.
