These days Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs, John Amaratunga is being discussed owing to a picture that has been circulated through social media. Diverse views were expressed on the picture which showed a young girl with the Minister. However, he had refuted the picture by calling it a doctored image. Meanwhile, this picture has been used by popular singer Iraj Weeraratne in his latest music video titled ‘Suratha’. A telephone conversation with Minister Amaratunga on the authenticity of the photograph has been in this video.
John Anthony Emmanuel Amaratunga is a Sri Lankan politician and lawyer. He is a representative of Gampaha District for the United National Party in the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He resides in Kandana. He also held the powerful ministry of Interior in the 2001-2004 United National Party government.
