The Gulf of Mexico, Florida in particular, is on alert for hurricane conditions this upcoming weekend. A new system named Idalia is forming, and it's now bringing flooding rain to Jamaica, Belize, Mexico, The Cayman Islands, Cuba, and Honduras.

It will lift north on Monday and strengthen into a hurricane on Tuesday. Then it will take aim at Florida. The most likely landfall location is anywhere from Tampa/Central Florida, up through the Big Bend of Florida. Mississippi and Alabama should monitor closely for any shifts to the west.

Hurricane Hunter aircraft will be inside this developing system non-stop, and that data will make the computer models more and more accurate.

Please stay alert throughout Florida, and in the Northwest Caribbean.
