Lexas Mshairi - Jaribu | Ushai? | Poetry Slam Africa

Nzolo Muthama, also known as Lexas Mshairi, is an award-winning performing poet, author, art therapist, musician, writer, songwriter, and instrumentalist hailing from Machakos. He is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya. Lexas has been actively involved in writing and performing poetry since 2016, turning professional in 2018. His work primarily focuses on storytelling, encompassing themes such as politics, social reform, climate justice, the human experience, and self-identity. He has successfully hosted numerous concept shows in Nairobi. Recently, he unveiled his first solo publication, "Roga Nisiroge?" – a Sheng/Kamba Poetry Anthology that explores the theme of healing. Among his many accomplishments, Lexas launched his debut album "Dreams za Tomorrow" in 2021, was featured in the 2022 Poetry Slam Africa, contributed to the "From the Margins" album by Dorphanage, and is part of the "When We Speak" anthology by Rafinki. Lexas Mshairi endeavors to ignite love and hope through his writing and performances. He holds a B.A in Psychology (minor in Sociology) and is the Community Engagement Officer for Rafinki, an organization for writers and poets.
