It's a nasty and very simple trick. Car thieves wedge a plastic bottle between the mudguard and tyre of your car.
What happens then? Nothing really, but your car can still be gone. I'll explain why.

The car thief usually clips the bottle to the right rear wheel, then hides and watches the car.
When you drive off, it makes a huge noise and you stop immediately, jump out of the car and see what's going on.
Most people leave the car open, the keys in the ignition and often even the engine running. The thief takes advantage of this moment, jumps into your car and drives off. As you are on the right rear wheel, you have no chance to react.
Even if you have removed the key but left the car open, the opportunity is seized and all the valuables within reach are taken in a flash.
