Penang is a great place
Penang is a great place to visit during a visit to Malaysia! Georgetown is the most popular area on Penang Island, and with good reason! The street art on Armenia street is unmatched and makes it feel like you're at an art exhibit while you walk around the old colonial streets. For anyone planning to visit Malaysia in the future, you should definitely add Penang to your list! Being so close to Kuala Lumpur is a huge bonus; it's just a 1 hour flight away from Malaysia's capital city, but it feels like a whole new country (but with the same amazing food!!).
One of our favourite parts of Penang, Malaysia, was visiting Chew Jetty. Chew Jetty is one of many family jetties within an area known as Clan Jetty. Here, generations of families make their homes over the water on stilts. It's a very unique place to visit and has excellent local shops and nooks and crannies to be explored!
If you want to eat food fit for a king, we highly recommend trying Nasi Kandar at Hameediyah restaurant. This was one of the best foods we've eaten in Malaysia, which is saying something because we have eaten A LOT! It was hectic to order the food, but the restaurant staff made sure to give us a great selection of famous Penang food, and it was one of the best things we've ever eaten chef's kiss
For Mico, visiting the Blue Mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion) was a must-do for a very particular reason. If anyone reading this is a movie buff who loves visiting filming locations, then the Blue Mansion has to go on your Penang itinerary!
And finally, to top off an incredible visit to Georgetown, we hit up the Gurney Drive Hawker Centre. Our main goal for going here was ot find some delicious Penang street food, and boy did we find some! Char Koay Teow is one of our new favourite Malaysian street foods, and we highly recommend you try it out if you are visiting Penang, Malaysia!
