Easy fix receiver protector/protection mode on Sony str-dh750 from lightning strike/power surge. Disconnected HDMI board power cable and works! WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I did eventually replace the bad HDMI board from a $40 new: "scratch and dent" receiver model: str-dh550 off ebay. both models hdmi board were identical. It was going to be around $100 to get the board separate from sonys authorized parts websites. basically you can get these receivers used on ebay for what it would cost for the part. If anyone wants the other receiver it works fine like new just no hdmi input, msg me.
