[ SynthesizerV 赤羽 COVER ] 粧台秋思 / Beautiful traditional Chinese melodies in modern EDM music
There were two reasons why I decided to make this cover song.
One was because there was a Chinese voice bank available for free.
The other reason is that I saw a very detailed review of my past albums by a Chinese listener.
After about eight years of silence, I did a little research on my work before resuming my music career.
It's interesting that the way music is reviewed differs from country to country.
Western critics analyze the techniques and styles of club music of the past and write about how they were used in the songs.
The Chinese were more interested in analyzing the symbolic expressions in the songs and trying to savor the deeper emotions in the songs.
I was a little surprised to learn that the critic was probably about the age of a junior high school student. It gave me the impression that he was very mature.
Japanese people tend to be a bit emotional and subjective, but you read the motifs woven into the music very delicately.
Now, let's get back to the music.
The reason why I chose this song from my limited knowledge of Chinese music is simply because the beautiful melody left an impression on me.
It was recorded as an instrumental piece on a record I bought when I visited Shanghai 20 years ago.
The liner notes said only that it was "an old song of unknown authorship," but the composition was very complex and dramatic, and I had a vague feeling that it was not just a folk song.
Now, after careful research, I found out that the song was from a Macau opera（澳劇）.
In arranging the song, I searched for the lyrics and found out that there were many different lyrics to this famous melody.
I thought it would be difficult to understand the lyrics as a theatrical song without knowing the whole story, so we adopted Rui Hong's sung version of the simpler story.
Before I started programming with SynthesizerV, I did not realize that the song was sung in Ao language.
So, while looking at language learning pages on the Internet, I forced Chiyu to correct her Mandarin pronunciation and managed to recreate the Ao language.
I tried my best, but I'm not a native speaker, so I'm sure there are some oddities.
I hope you enjoy it.😃
このカバー曲を作ろうと思った理由は二つ。
一つは中国語のボイスバンクが無料で配布されていたから。もう一つの理由は、以前私が出したアルバムに対して、中国の方がとても丁寧にレビューをしてくているのを見たからです。

音楽の受け取り方は各国個性があって興味深いです。
欧米の批評家は、楽曲に盛り込まれている、歴代のクラブミュージックのテクニックやスタイルに対する分析を書いてくださていました。
中国人の関心は歌い込められた象徴的な表現の分析にあり、曲に込められた情緒の深い部分まで味わおうとしてくださいました。
少し驚いたのはこの批評家はおそらく中学生くらいの年齢だということです。とても成熟した印象を受けました。
日本人はやや情緒的、主観的な感想が多いのですが、楽曲部分に織り込まれたモチーフをとても繊細に読み取ってくださいます。
さて、話は楽曲に戻ります。
私が、乏しい中国音楽の知識の中からこの曲目を選んだ理由は、単に美しいメロディーが印象に残っていたからです。
２０年前に上海を訪れた時に購入したレコードに、器楽曲として収録されていました。
ライナーノーツには単に、作者不明の古曲とだけ記されていましたが、曲の構成はとても複雑でドラマチックで、単なる民謡ではないと、薄々感じていました。
今になって初めて、曲についてよく調べてみると、案の定、これは澳門に伝わる歌劇の歌だと知りました。
曲をアレンジするにあたって、歌詞を探しましたが、この有名なメロディには様々な歌詞が存在していました。
劇中歌としての歌詞は、物語の全体を知らなければわかりにくいと思い、よりシンプルな物語を持つ、Lui Hongさんが歌うバージョンを採用しました。
SynthesizerVでプログラムし始める前は、この曲が澳語で歌われていることに気がつきませんした。
そこでなんとかインターネットで語学学習のページを見ながら、Chiyuの北京語の発音を強制して澳語を再現しました。
ずいぶん頑張りましたが、私はネイティブスピーカーではないのでおかしなところがあると思います。
それでも楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。
