Around 1:15PM, the Albuquerque Police Department received a shots spotter near the intersection of Chelwood Park and Summer Ave NE. An officer in the area also heard the shots. Witnesses told us they saw a male get out of a Camaro and shot at another vehicle with possible gun fire being exchanged. While on scene we saw at least 7 evidence markers being documented in the intersection.

A chase of the vehicles started going down the street heading south on Juan Tabo and Copper. A second shoot out happened near this intersection. While the shoot out happened a Bernalillo County Sheriff vehicle was struck. According to BCSO public information officer Jayme Fuller Gonzales:

The Deputy was struck by a vehicle fleeing from a drive-by shooting. The two males occupants fled on foot, after a short foot pursuit the two males were taken into custody. A firearm was located on one of the subjects. Five other vehicles were struck by the initial fleeing vehicle.

While on scene we observed some bullet casing near a backpack where the suspects were taken into custody. In the intersection we observed six total vehicles involved in the crash with one person needing to be extricated from a sports car. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. Two males were taken into custody from this incident.

A short time later a call came out that someone spotted the Camaro involved in the two shootouts and it was at a tire shop on the corner of Central Ave. and California St. Albuquerque Police arrived on scene to find three suspects at the shop. One male and two females. The male was considered one of the shooters. The two females were taken out of the tire shop in handcuffs and one had some parting messages to her friends.

We will update when we have more information from criminal complaints.
