The Thailand DTV visa ("Digital
The Thailand DTV visa ("Digital Nomad Visa" but technically the Destination Thailand Visa) is Thailand's newest and maybe the best Thailand visa option for 2024. The DTV visa is not just for digital nomads. It is for others too, like those coming for extended periods for art and cuisine education (other than the ED visa), Muay Thai, medical treatment and more. The visa became officially available on July 15, 2024. At present, Thai embassies and consulates are accepting applications although some are charging more than the 10,000 baht fee for some reason.
Also covered in the video is the new 60-day Thailand visa-free entry or visa waiver (incorrectly but often called the tourist visa). It was previously only 30 days for most countries. This is great news. So this covers the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada and many other countries. In fact 93 countries are now covered up from 57. Be aware, however that after posting this video, the Thai government announced (again!) delays in starting the 60 day period. This also became effective July 15, 2024 after an initial delay after the announcement.
The DTV visa is for a 180-day stay in Thailand anytime within a 5-year period after obtaining the visa. You can also request a one-time extension of an ADDITIONAL 180 days. This would give you almost a full year in the kingdom of Thailand. It also extends to certain dependents. The cost is low and the benefits are high. The fee is only 10,000 baht (about $275 US). There is the same 10,000 baht fee if someone wishes to invoke the one-time 180-day extension). The Thai DTV visa appears to be a great visa designed to boost tourism, and stay almost one year without the hassles of visa waiver extensions and border runs, etc. Another Youtuber posted an interview with a Thai government official that the 180 days can be renewed over and over again during the five years, which if true, makes the visa not just good but great!
The only significant requirement of the Thailand digital nomal DTV visa is to have 500,000 baht (about $13,675 US) available to you to make sure you are financially capable and independent while in Thailand (provable by bank statement). For the digital nomad option show a proof of employment or a work portfolio. For cultural immersion, show proof you are in a program. Each consulate or embassy might offer slightly different requirements for the visa and as stated above some embassies are charging more than the stated 10,000 baht fee.
