Wacka wacka wacka, oooowww, eee, aaaahhh. Etc. You know what a wah-wah sounds like and you know what an auto-wah/envelope filter sounds like too… because you’ve heard ‘em through rock and pop history. They’re some of the most downright arousing tones ever committed to wax (or encoded into 1s and 0s).
Any road up, here we go through some vintage and modern envelope filters to see wha’s what (see what we did there?) and help newcomers find a foothold in the scraggy crevices on filter mountain.
