(25 Aug 1972) RR7234A MOROCCO: THE COUP THAT FAILED
In Morocco, King Hassan II has escaped unharmed
from the second attempt on his life within thirteen
months. His personal jet was attacked by three
fighters of the Moroccan Air Force as it was returning
from France. In July 1971, over a hundred people
were killed when rebel Army cadets burst into the
summer palace during the King's birthday party.
Loyalist troops prevented a coup d'etat, and when
order was restored King Hassan had several leading
Army officers executed. This report shows the
strafing of the airport in the 1972 attack.
