Adult (self-taught) Beginner Violinist - 2 Years Violin Progress Video

I'm a 32 year old from the UK who's been playing the violin for 2 years now. Seeing as I have been recording myself from the start, I thought I would share my progress from week 1 to today, in this 2 year beginner violinist progress video.

For anyone who is looking to learn the violin, I highly recommend recording your progress. It's a great drive to continue as you see your progress and also helps when listening back to yourself to hear where you struggle.

I'd wanted to play the violin for a while, so when I finally got some time back on my side, I thought why not give it a go. To date I am self-taught with no paid lessons from a teacher. I have learnt everything from some great YouTube channels and books. Violin lessons are quite pricey for an hour, so when I feel I'm at a point of struggle and not progressing, I may take them up.

Learning the violin to date has been quite the journey but I'm enjoying it so much! All you need is patience, persistence and passion which all comes with plenty of practice. In addition to learning the violin, I have also been learning music theory, so I am able to read music which has been another BIG task.

I started playing the violin in November '16 and practiced quite often. During 2017 I had over 6 months out of practice, as I was fortunate enough to go travelling South America and India. I returned in November 2017 and have been practicing for roughly a couple of hours a day around 3-4 times a week.

I'm excited for the year ahead to reflect back again and see how far I've come. I hope you enjoy my 2 year violin progress video and please do post a comment.
