The only thing better than hydrangeas? More hydrangeas! If you're looking to grow more hydrangeas (and not spend a dime), this video is for you! This beautiful plant with showy blooms is a staple in any southern yard, and it's easier than you think to propagate. I'll show you a quick, easy, and cheap way to propagate hydrangeas at home.

The first step to hydrangea propagation is getting a cutting from the mother plant. To begin, you'll want to take some softwood cuttings from your hydrangea. Don't forget to thoroughly disinfect your pruners before you get started! Also, you'll want to have an empty, well-washed plastic jug (a milk jug works great) in order to create a mini greenhouse; this will help keep your hydrangea cuttings humid while they propagate.
Hydrangea macrophylla is the variety that we'll be propagating in this video. I love the light blue color of this hydrangea in particular.
